The incumbent as 'IaaS Engineer' required to support, contribute, develop and manage Virtualization, Storage, Backup and Data Center Infrastructure and all other related systems in the area of responsibility of IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) for service and project management on aspects related to the entire lifecycle, service delivery, various programs and projects (common funded, multi-nationally or nationally funded), service implementation&maintenance and documentation. The incumbent will perform duties such as following:

- Provides daily operation and maintenance of NISC IaaS Services.
- Support the Senior Technicians, Engineers and NISC IaaS SDMs in all activities in the areas of design, engineering, implementation, operation and integration of Infrastructure Hosting Services
- Supports administration, system configuration, backup and recovery of all Storage Area Networks (SAN).
- Administers and maintains virtual infrastructure.
- Performs system administration for assigned systems.
- Supports the installation, management, and operation of common user services over the NATO networks.
- Plan, install and configure new equipment to data centers including fiber and copper cabling
- Monitor and perform daily physical check of datacenter HW and other equipment
- Replace failing parts in a timely manner
- Provide expertise on the implementation of physical security for IaaS data centers
- Follow change management process and update network topology diagram and CMDB after installing new or decommissioning old components at data center
- Perform troubleshoot on data center, identify issues and assist in timely resolution of same
- Carefully examine power sources and heating and cooling controls, evaluate machine temperature levels for optimal performance
- Maintain proper record of work operations, events
- Provides advises and support the IaaS SAO and SDMs on aspects related to the entire lifecycle of capabilities, services, projects;
- Contribute in maintaining close and coordinated operating ties with IaaS management to ensure a harmonized effort and synchronized effect for all activities;
- S/he will carefully monitor the compliance with SLAs;

Duties & Role:

- Support the development of processes, procedures (SOP) and Standard Operation Instructions (SOIs) for IaaS services;
- Identification operational problems and contribution to their resolution;
- Provides reports, briefings, position papers and presentations to senior management during all phases of the project development and implementation;
- Perform ad hoc tasks related to NISC SL's responsibilities;
- Performs other duties as may be required.
- Might need to work on scheduled maintenances, service-affecting activities and contingency work outside of regular business hours or being on-call after working hours on weekends
- Might need to travel and work in SHAPE/Mons, HQ Brussels, The Hague/Netherlands or any other datacenters if/when required.

Essential Experience and Education:

- A Master of Science (MSc) degree at a nationally  recognized/certified University in a related subject and 5 years post-related experience;
- Or a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at a nationally recognized/certified University in a related subject and 7 years post related experience;
- Sound practical experience in the DataCenter concept, technologies, operations and standards including servers, storage devices, virtualization, and backup&restore of virtualized environment;
- Hands-on experience with data center management including virtualization using VMWare ESXi, blade & rack mount servers;
- Sound practical experience in SAN/NAS network fundamentals (TCP-IP, FC, FCoE, iSCSI, WWN, WWNP, LIFS) with SAN, Unified and NAS storages;
- Sound knowledge of data center environments, servers, storages and other equipment and virtualization including:
o Data center cabling and infrastructure
o Fiber installation and termination
o Rack and aisle buildout and installation
o TEMPEST knowledge
o Health and Safety regulation familiarity concerning data centers
o Electrical safety protocols
o Power consumption calculation, monitoring
o Power and cooling capacity management
o Power distribution and power redundancy
o Floor and rack space density calculation
o Cabling strategies
o Cooling architecture
o Forecasting and accommodation data center growth
- Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment;
- Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors- Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies;
- Proficiency in documenting current design&configuration and to develop/maintain Standard Operation Procedures/Instructions and training guidance
- Exceptional communication skills;
- Willingness to respond to server, storage and networking errors even after working hours;
- Sound practical experience in Active Directory, Windows Server and (Linux RedHat will be a Plus);
- Experience in IT Asset and Configuration management;
- Sound practical knowledge and experience of ITIL and possessing ITIL certification;

Desirable Experience and Education:
- Training and industry certification either on virtualization or SAN or backup technologies;
- Certified in fiber optic splicing and termination; basic installer's level certification;
- CompTIA ServerPlus, CompTIA Network, or CCNA certification would be advantageous;
- DataCenter certification;
- Experience from working in a service provisioning organization;
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization;
