NISC Core Services & DCS Support Team

This role provides expert support to NATO’s Core Services (CS) programme, with a strong focus on Data Centric Security (DCS) and interoperability within the NATO Enterprise.

The work supports the NATO Infrastructure Services Centre (NISC) and contributes to architecture development, capability planning, testing activities, and implementation of DCS and Core Services across NATO.


Main Duties

  • Support implementation of Data Centric Security (DCS) within NATO.

  • Contribute to development of Core Services (CS) requirements and architecture.

  • Assist with integration of Zero Trust principles into NATO systems.

  • Contribute to development and enhancement of the DCS Reference System.

  • Support development of prototypes (e.g., DCS ML3).

  • Participate in NATO working groups and capability team meetings.

  • Prepare technical presentations, documentation, and quarterly reports.

  • Support interoperability testing during NATO exercises (e.g., CWIX, DIVE, FMN).

  • Develop and coordinate test cases for NATO capability testing.

  • Ensure documentation and reporting meet required standards.

Travel within Europe (and occasionally North America) is required for meetings and exercises.


Required Qualifications (Essential)

  • 5 years of experience in NATO Core Services (CS) and/or Data Centric Security (DCS).

  • Experience with Zero Trust concepts.

  • Experience developing or working with a DCS Reference System.

  • Strong knowledge of NATO metadata, labelling, binding and confidentiality standards.

  • Experience with NATO standards processes (e.g., STANAG).

  • Knowledge of Federated Mission Networking (FMN).

  • Experience with Identity and Access Management (IdAM).

  • Ability to write and produce technical documentation in English.

  • Excellent English communication skills.

  • Valid NATO SECRET security clearance.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NATO Core Data Framework (NCDF).

  • Experience with federation and web security standards (e.g., SAML, OIDC, XACML).

  • Experience with SOA, web services, REST/SOAP.

  • Knowledge of PKI and cryptography.

  • Understanding of NATO organisational structures.

  • Familiarity with project management methods (PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum).
