The objective of this role is to ensure a user-centred, consistent, and modern UI/UX design across multiple systems within the NATO Academy Learning Environment (ALE), including Moodle, the Training Management System (TMS), JIRA, the Adaptive Learning Platform, the Training Landing Zone (TLZ), and the NCI Academy Catalogue.

Key Responsibilities

  • User-Centred Design: Create intuitive, accessible designs that align with user needs and behaviours.

  • UX Research & Testing: Conduct user research, usability testing, and behavioural analysis to inform design decisions and improve usability.

  • Design Standards: Develop and maintain style guidesdesign systems, and reusable UI patterns to ensure visual and functional consistency across platforms.

  • Interface Design & Implementation: Produce wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes, and deliver integration-ready UI components (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) suitable for direct implementation in ALE systems.

  • Graphic Design: Create and maintain original graphic assets such as icons, images, and visual elements to enhance the user experience.

  • UI Testing & Problem Resolution: Test UI elements (layouts, flows, buttons, banners) and address issues related to responsiveness, accessibility, and design consistency.

  • Continuous Improvement: Incorporate feedback and usability findings into iterative design updates.

  • System Coverage: Provide UI/UX services across ALE systems, focusing on systems prioritized during sprint planning cycles.

Each sprint (1 week) involves the production of:

  • User Research Reports (personas, journeys, validated requirements)

  • UI/UX Prototypes and Style Guides (consistent with design standards)

  • Integration-Ready UI Components (HTML/CSS/JS templates for Moodle and TMS)
