Duties & Role

The junior contractor will support the Operational Analysis (OA) Centre staff under supervision, performing analytical and data-related tasks. Key duties include:

  • Supporting the development and conduct of analytical studies.

  • Manipulating and analysing large datasets using analytical tools.

  • Collecting, collating, and analysing data using tools such as:

    • Python

    • MS Excel

    • MAVEN Smart System (MSS)

  • Conducting methodical data collection from multiple sources and presenting findings clearly and logically.

  • Producing accurate, verified, and validated datasets under time pressure using MS Office tools at an expert level.

  • Preparing summaries and visualisations for:

    • Dashboards (e.g., Power BI, MSS)

    • MS PowerPoint presentations

    • MS Word reports

  • Supporting the drafting, development, and updating of documentation and reports.

  • Delivering rapid, fit-for-purpose analysis in a fast-paced environment.

  • Communicating analytical findings clearly, both orally and in written English, ensuring complex results are understandable to decision-makers.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Recent experience conducting analysis in support of decision-makers.

  • Very strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, particularly:

    • MS Excel

    • Power BI

  • Ability to develop and apply simple programs/coding within NCIA OA tools.

  • Experience reviewing and analysing large datasets using:

    • MS Excel

    • Data integration tools

    • AI tools such as MAVEN Smart System

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting analysts in a military environment.

  • Experience with:

    • Data science techniques/tools

    • Power BI

    • Statistical software (e.g., R)

    • MAVEN Smart System

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge and/or experience in Defence Planning work (national or NATO level).

Working Conditions

  • Work must be performed on-site at NCIA offices in The Hague.

  • Majority of tasks conducted on NATO Secret systems.

  • Occasional short business travel to Mons (Belgium) and/or Brussels (Belgium) may be required.

  • NATO Secret clearance must be active at contract start date.
