Service Engineer
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Systems Engineering
- Define, scope, and prioritize requirements for medium-complexity initiatives
- Select and apply appropriate requirements approaches
- Engage stakeholders and drive requirement alignment
- Establish baselines, ensure approval, and maintain traceability
2. Data Engineering
- Design and build data pipelines and data storage solutions
- Perform ETL processes (extract, transform, load)
- Apply standards and tools for data engineering
- Conduct data quality checks and remediation
3. Software Development
- Design, develop, test, document, and improve software/scripts
- Apply engineering standards and best practices
- Track progress and resolve development issues
- Collaborate in code and design reviews
4. Systems Development Management
- Plan and manage system development projects
- Select and adapt development methodologies, tools, and techniques
- Ensure resource availability and efficient utilization
- Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with architecture, security, and privacy standards
- Develop future system roadmaps
5. Systems Integration & Build
- Configure system components for testing
- Develop and manage integration plans
- Define and execute integration builds and tests
- Ensure proper test environments
- Document integration components in configuration systems
- Improve integration processes and tools
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 2 years experience, OR
- No degree with 6 years of relevant, progressive experience
Experience Requirements
- 3 years in ICT design/software development for large C4ISR systems
- Strong analytical and systems thinking skills
- Experience leading technical discussions across teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Additional required experience (each ~3 years):
- Emerging technology assessment and integration
- Stakeholder management (internal & external)
- Data engineering (data structures and pipelines)
Desirable Certifications
(Not mandatory; can be provided after hiring)
- TOGAF
- ITIL
- COBIT
Work Conditions
- Location: The Hague, Netherlands
- On-site requirement: ~70% (30% remote)
- Start date: 25 May 2026
- End date: 31 December 2026
- Total hours: 836
- Security clearance: NATO Secret
- Grade equivalence: NATO G15
