Data Engineer

Key Duties

• Assess and ensure the integrity of data from multiple sources.
• Transform and migrate data between different formats and platforms.
• Improve data availability, integrity, searchability, and metadata management.
• Design, develop, and maintain data models and data structures.
• Document and communicate data models and structures to stakeholders.
• Build and maintain data pipelines using ETL/ELT processes.
• Apply data engineering tools and automation to support data integration.
• Perform routine data quality checks and resolve data issues.
• Support data platform integration, configuration, and governance.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a technical/IT-related field with 3 years of relevant experience, or
• 5 years of progressive relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Technical Skills

• Data engineering (Python, Spark, Kafka, ETL/ELT, automation).
• Data modelling, ontology engineering, and semantic interoperability.
• Metadata management and data governance.
• Data quality frameworks and validation techniques.
• Data platform integration and configuration.
• Knowledge of federated data environments; defence or mission-related data sharing is an advantage.

Desirable

• Experience working in an international military/civilian environment.
• Knowledge of NATO structures and organization.
