Duties & Role

  • Monitor database platform performance and availability across on-premises and cloud environments, implementing proactive measures to ensure optimal system reliability and operational continuity.
  • Define, implement, and maintain robust database backup and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring validated recovery procedures are continuously available and tested.
  • Develop and execute database upgrade, patching, and lifecycle management strategies to maintain secure, stable, and up-to-date environments.
  • Administer and support Business Intelligence platforms including Oracle Analytics, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), WebLogic, Apache HTTP Server, and Apache Tomcat.
  • Perform installation, configuration, reconfiguration, maintenance, and backup operations for database systems and related middleware components.
  • Design and implement scalable and resilient database infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise business and technology requirements.
  • Develop automation scripts and operational tooling to streamline database administration, monitoring, deployment, and maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor system performance metrics, analyze trends, and generate operational and analytical reports to support service improvement initiatives.
  • Support high availability and disaster recovery architectures including clustering, replication, and virtualized infrastructures.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure database environments comply with operational and security standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation related to database configurations, operational procedures, backup strategies, patch management, and recovery processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for database-related incidents, upgrades, and operational activities.

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar infrastructure/database support role.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database technologies including Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, with hands-on operational experience in at least two of these platforms.
  • Good understanding and practical experience with MySQL High Availability and Disaster Recovery technologies, including:
    • MySQL InnoDB Cluster
    • MySQL InnoDB ReplicaSet
    • MySQL InnoDB ClusterSet
    • MySQL Replication
  • Good knowledge of ORDS, Apache HTTP Server, and Apache Tomcat administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of Linux/UNIX and Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining enterprise BI environments including Oracle Analytics, OBIEE, ODI, OAS, and WebLogic.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, patching, upgrade planning, and lifecycle management.
  • Good understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery architectures including clustering and virtual infrastructures.
  • Experience monitoring database performance and implementing optimization measures.
  • Ability to automate administrative and operational tasks using scripting or automation tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in international and multidisciplinary environments.
  • Very good written and spoken English.
  • Possession of a valid NATO SECRET security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with cloud-based database environments and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale BI and analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based operational processes and change management procedures.
  • Experience in operational reporting and performance analytics.
  • Experience working within NATO or other international governmental environments.
