Location: The Hague, Netherlands
Work arrangement: Full-time on-site
Security clearance: NATO Secret
Travel: Occasional short trips to Mons or Brussels, usually one day and occasionally up to three days
Main duties
- Perform data and operational analysis under the direction of Operational Analysis staff.
- Work with large datasets and support the analysis of complex problems using straightforward analytical tools.
- Apply operational-analysis techniques such as wargaming, modelling, and what-if analysis.
- Collect, collate, verify, validate, and analyse data from multiple sources.
- Use tools including Python, advanced Microsoft Excel, MAVEN Smart System, and other data-integration or AI tools.
- Follow methodical data-collection processes and present findings clearly, concisely, and logically.
- Help OA Centre staff create and update documentation and reports.
- Produce accurate and consistent datasets under tight deadlines using Microsoft Office at an expert level.
- Summarise findings through Power BI or MSS dashboards, PowerPoint presentations, and Word documents.
Essential requirements
- Recent experience conducting analysis to support decision-makers.
- Ability to review and analyse large datasets in detail.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with data-integration, AI, commercial, or in-house analytical tools.
- Ability to deliver rapid, fit-for-purpose analysis in a fast-paced environment under the direction of senior analysts.
- Strong spoken and written English.
- Ability to explain complex analytical findings in a clear, understandable way.
- Capacity to work accurately under time pressure and ensure data is verified, validated, and internally consistent.
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience supporting analysts in a military environment.
- Basic understanding of military logistics and/or air operations.
- Experience with data-science techniques.
- Experience using Power BI, R or comparable statistical software, and MAVEN Smart System.
- Confidence programming in Python.
- Knowledge or experience of national or NATO defence planning and operational planning.
Working conditions
The work will be carried out primarily at the NCI Agency offices in The Hague because most tasks involve NATO Secret systems. Occasional travel to Mons, Belgium, or Brussels, Belgium, may be required to support Operational Analysis staff.
