NNGEM CIS Systems Engineer
Duties & Role
In close coordination with the CIS Capability Service Delivery Manager, CSI Engineers, and developers, the Contractor will support the design, deployment, integration, maintenance, and operational support of the NNGEM/NUCOM application environment across NATO sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and configure virtualization environments supporting the NNGEM application
- Configure and integrate NNGEM applications with NATO Identity Management systems
- Support developers using Red Hat UBI and application components in alignment with NCIA security guidelines
- Develop and maintain centralized backup and restore procedures for containerized applications
- Configure and deploy monitoring solutions for managed applications (e.g., Zabbix-based monitoring)
- Deploy NUCOM/NNGEM applications across multiple sites in accordance with installation manuals
- Apply and deploy scheduled application updates (3 releases per year / every 4 months)
- Provide operational support and incident management:
- Resolve incidents up to Level 2 support
- Escalate complex issues to Level 3 support where required
- Create and maintain technical documentation:
- “As-Built” documentation
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs)
- Review and provide feedback on:
- Security hardening procedures
- Identity management procedures
- Backup and restore procedures
- Installation manuals
- Deliver on-the-job training sessions based on approved training materials
- Ensure continuous operational stability and support of deployed CIS systems
Requirements Description
General Knowledge & Experience
- Strong understanding of computer and communication security principles
- Knowledge of networking concepts and vulnerabilities in modern operating systems and applications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in implementation, maintenance, and support of ICT end systems in a large organization
- Hands-on experience configuring both hardware and software systems
- Ability to work independently and solve complex technical issues
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and providing technical support to end users
Skill, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience with virtualization platforms such as:
- VMware vSphere
- Microsoft Hyper-V
- Experience managing Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, including distributed server/client infrastructures
- Experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), including:
- Red Hat Identity Management
- Microsoft identity services
- Identity Broker solutions
- Strong scripting skills in at least one language:
- PowerShell or Python (automation of deployments and administrative tasks)
- Experience in ICT infrastructure troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
- Experience implementing monitoring solutions, preferably Zabbix
- Practical experience with backup and restore operations for containerized applications
- Strong English communication skills (spoken and written), as work is conducted in English
Certifications (Asset – Not Mandatory)
One or more of the following is considered advantageous:
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
- Zabbix Certified Professional (ZCP)
- IT Trainer certifications (e.g., RHCI, CompTIA CTT , MCT, CCSI)
