Duties

  • Lead the design and development of solution architectures for complex projects, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Define and maintain architecture standards, principles, and best practices across multiple initiatives.
  • Gather, analyse, prioritise, and manage business and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve competing priorities and communicate architecture decisions.
  • Oversee systems development activities, ensuring compliance with security, quality, and development standards.
  • Design and review network architectures, including connectivity, capacity, security, resilience, and recovery solutions.
  • Produce architecture models and documentation to support technical and non-functional requirements.
  • Coordinate architecture activities across multiple projects and ensure consistency with organisational standards.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience, or Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering complex solution architecture projects.
  • Strong background in systems integration, network architecture, and communications systems.
  • Experience with wireless technologies, including SATCOM, and modern mobile communications infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with architecture modelling languages (e.g. ArchiMate, UML, SysML) and architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, NAF, DoDAF, or Zachman.
  • Experience with systems development, testing, implementation, quality assurance, and lifecycle management.

Certifications

  • ITIL Foundation.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent project management certification (PMP accepted).

Desirable

  • Experience with the NATO Architecture Framework (NAF v4) and Federated Mission Networking (FMN).
  • TOGAF, ArchiMate, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent certification.
  • Previous experience working within NATO or an international military/civilian environment.

Additional Information

  • Location: Braine-l'Alleud, Belgium (100% on-site)
  • Travel: Occasional travel to other NATO sites in Belgium (1–2 times per month)
  • Security Clearance: NATO Secret (required)
