Principal Technician (Infrastructure and Database Administration)
Duties
- Provisions/installs, configures and maintains infrastructure services and components.
- Monitors, measures and reports on infrastructure load, performance and security events.
- Assists assigned IaaS systems and resolves alerts and error conditions of Data Centres (Server Room), Storage Area Networks, and Servers.
- Manages and operates Virtual Infrastructure and frameworks/versions of software, to include; VMWare Server and desktop virtualization, SAN Switches, and other integrated hardware/software.
- Maintains Windows Core Active Directory services and policies in NATO networks.
- Manages software updates and patching with SCCM/MCEM and other means for Windows and Linux connected systems.
- Carries out COI database administration, monitors and troubleshoots third party application deployments for COI Services and Databases.
- Responsible for administration of Exchange servers.
- Assists implementation and management of Backup/Recovery Solutions.
- Coordinates and collaborates daily tasks with other CSU internal units, Service Lines and other technical organisations.
- Assists procedures, tools and techniques for monitoring and managing the performance of applications and provides reports as required.
- Assists with and implements assigned project work packages.
- Analyses and resolves/reports assigned level 1/1 incident and problem tickets.
- Performs other duties as may be required.
Requirement
- Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience. Or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience.

- Current in-depth knowledge and practical work experience in IT infrastructure management and capacity management.
- Current in-depth knowledge and recent practical experience of mainstream hypervisors, Virtual Infrastructure, deploying and managing server virtualization technologies.
- Current in-depth knowledge and practical work experience in Windows Server, Active Directory, DHCP, Domain Naming, Group Policies and Desktop deployment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience on administration of Windows and/or LINUX (Oracle, RedHat) Operating Systems and Single Sign-On.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database Management Software.
- Experience in server clustering technology, storage systems and backup systems.
- Experience in the operational business processes of Application Services.
- Server-side scripting (Microsoft PowerShell).
- Experience in in Web platforms and services.
- Demonstrable, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge ITIL best practices.
- The incumbent should prove that he/she is eligible working in Turkiye by either having the citizenship or having a work and residency permit.
- Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret.
Preferences
- Practical experience as a Systems or Virtual Infrastructure Administrator in an international environment.
- Proven experience in the support of NATO Logistics COI Services.
- Practical experience in deploying/using/optimising mainstream Service Management Tools (such as; SCOM, SCCM and Oracle Enterprise manager).
- MCSA/E equivalent - (Microsoft AZ-800/801, DP-300, AZ-204, MD-102).
- ITIL v4 Foundation and Intermediate.
- VMware Certified Professional.
