Principal Technician (LAN Administration)
Duties & Role
The Principal Technician (LAN Administration) is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of LAN infrastructure within the assigned environment. This includes planning, deployment, operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of network services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise campus LAN environments
- Ensure high availability and performance of network infrastructure
- Monitor network systems and proactively troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues
- Manage full lifecycle activities of LAN components, from deployment to decommissioning
- Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to ensure secure and reliable network operations
- Support network changes, upgrades, and optimization initiatives
- Travel to remote sites within the Netherlands and Germany as required
Required Technical Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience with campus routing and switching technologies
- Hands-on expertise with Cisco SD-Access, including:
- IS-IS routing protocol
- LISP (Locator/ID Separation Protocol)
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly DNA Center)
- Strong knowledge of network security principles, including:
- 802.1X authentication
- AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) services
- RADIUS and TACACS protocols
- Practical experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
Qualifications
- Minimum certification: Cisco CCNA (valid and active)
- Preferred certifications:
- Cisco CCNP (Enterprise, Security, or Service Provider)
- Cisco CCIE (any relevant track)
Security Clearance
- NATO Cosmic Top Secret clearance (mandatory)

- Equivalent NATO Grade: G12
- Work location: Brunssum, Netherlands
- On-site requirement: 90% onsite (no full remote option)
- Work type: Office-based with occasional travel within CSU Brunssum area of responsibility (GAoR)
- Working conditions: Primarily office-based with occasional site visits within the region
