The Senior Assurance Engineer will work within the Product and Service Assurance Team, responsible for independent verification and validation (IV&V) of NCIA-delivered projects, systems, services, processes, and programmes.
The role includes independent status reporting at executive level and assurance support across the Agency enterprise change management lifecycle, including in-service capabilities.

The engineer will be integrated into a multinational team of assurance engineers, contributing domain expertise as required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, and conduct formal reviews and assessments across complex domain areas, cross-functional areas, and the supply chain

  • Evaluate compliance with organisational standards and identify non-compliances, including root-cause analysis

  • Produce and maintain test and assurance documentation, including:

    • (Event) Test Plans

    • Test Cases

    • Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM)

    • Test and assurance reports

  • Provide independent assurance of test artefacts, including validation of RTMs

  • Manage the design, planning, execution, and reporting of Verification & Validation (V&V) events

  • Support projects where testing and execution are performed by external contractors

  • Support the operational community during operational acceptance activities

  • Contribute to assurance planning and reporting across multiple concurrent projects

Mandatory Requirements (Required)

  • Minimum 5 years recent experience in planning and executing testing, verification, and validation activities in large, complex projects

  • Minimum 5 years recent experience with:

    • Functional testing

    • Non-functional testing

    • Interoperability testing of systems and products

  • Proven experience managing external stakeholders and cross-functional teams during complex project execution

  • Strong ability to understand and reason about hardware and software architectures used in system design

  • Excellent communication skills: clear, concise, coherent, and engaging, both written and oral

  • Experience leading or managing a team of testers, quality engineers, or development engineers

  • Experience testing in virtualised and cloud environments

  • Familiarity with test management, defect management, and requirements management tools

  • Experience working with independent testing, particularly when execution is carried out by an external party

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced certification in software testing or test management

  • Experience testing within NATO or military business domains

  • Experience with assurance tools, methodologies, and processes

  • Experience as an interoperability tester in a NATO context
