Test Engineer
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on the adoption and effective use of testing methods, tools, policies, and standards.
- Tailor testing processes in accordance with agreed standards and continuously improve testing methodologies and tool usage.
- Develop acceptance criteria based on functional and non-functional requirements, business processes, user stories, and business rules.
- Design, prepare, execute, and document acceptance test cases and test scenarios.
- Verify that systems, products, and services meet acceptance criteria and deliver expected business outcomes.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, system engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Analyse test results and report on testing activities, defects, risks, and recommendations.
- Support the configuration of system components and environments required for integration testing.
- Contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of system integration activities.
- Define and manage complex integration builds and ensure integration environments are correctly configured.
- Execute integration testing and document test outcomes.
- Identify and document configuration items within the Configuration Management System (CMS).
- Recommend and implement improvements to testing processes, integration practices, and supporting tools.
- Apply configuration management processes to track, control, and maintain configuration items.
- Verify and approve configuration changes while ensuring compliance with configuration management policies.
- Ensure adherence to standards for documentation, version control, baselines, releases, and environments.
- Participate in configuration audits and perform corrective actions where necessary.
- Produce clear technical documentation and status reports throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree from a nationally recognised university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or another related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-degree professional experience.
Professional Experience
- At least 2 years of recent experience in planning and executing testing, verification, and validation activities within large and complex projects.
- At least 2 years of recent experience performing functional, non-functional, and interoperability testing.
- Experience coordinating testing activities with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience working with system integration and acceptance testing.
- Experience with configuration management processes and tools.
- Experience producing test plans, test cases, test reports, defect reports, and technical documentation.
Technical Knowledge
- Solid understanding of software and hardware architectures.
- Knowledge of system integration principles and testing methodologies.
- Understanding of:
- DNS
- NTP
- Email systems
- Databases
- Application architectures
- Inter-application communication protocols
- Familiarity with configuration management processes and version control.
- Understanding of software development and system engineering lifecycles.
Certifications
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification or an equivalent certification in Test, Verification, and Validation.
Skills

Security Clearance
- Active NATO Secret security clearance.
Working Conditions
- Location: The Hague, Netherlands.
- Work arrangement: Full-time, on-site.
- Contract period: 1 September 2026 – 30 December 2026.
- Estimated workload: 600 hours.
- Working environment: Normal office environment.
